How To Put a Woman’s E-Bike on a Bike Rack

Woman's ebike on rack

For a top tube bike, this is a relatively easy task. However, women’s e-bikes can have different frames and may not work well for some car racks. Aside from the other frames, e-bikes are more expensive and often heavier, making the right rack critical.

This article will discuss how to put a woman’s e-bike on a bike rack. We will also recommend the best type of racks to use for heavier e-bikes.

What Type of Bike Rack Should You Use for a Woman’s E-Bike?

There are three main types of bike racks: hitch racks, roof racks, and trunk racks.

Hitch racks are the best option for women’s e-bikes because they can support the heavier weight and are easier to load. We recommend using a hitch rack with a battery pack if you have a woman’s e-bike with a battery pack mount. This will help to distribute the weight more evenly and make loading the e-bike onto the rack easier.

Roof racks can also be used for women’s e-bikes, but they are more challenging to load and unload. If you use a roof rack, we recommend a wheel mount or fork mount vs frame mount for ebikes as that is often where the battery is placed.

Trunk racks can be used for women’s e-bikes, but they are not as stable as hitch racks or roof racks. We do not recommend using a trunk rack if you have a woman’s e-bike with a battery pack, since the bike can be 40+ pounds and very few racks are rated for more than 35 pounds per bike meaning you need to check your racks ratings carefully as most will require you to buy extra parts to use the rack.

How To Put a Woman’s E-Bike on a Bike Rack

If you use a hitch rack, the first step is to lower the rack so it is level with your e-bike. Next, you will need to tilt the e-bike so that the front wheel is in the air and the back wheel rests on the ground. Once the e-bike is tilted, you can roll it onto the rack.

If you are using a roof rack, you will need to lift the e-bike onto the roof of your car. Remove the battery or front wheel (for fork mounts) to lessen the weight. We recommend front tire in first and then rear tire on most wheel bike racks. Once the e-bike is on the roof, you can secure it in place with the rack straps.

If you are using a trunk rack, again remove your battery first and check that you can position both rack arms to hold the ebike with the weight of the bike balanced equally between both arms. Next, lift the e-bike onto the rack and secure it in place with the straps that come with the rack.

Just be sure to take extra care when loading and unloading your e-bike to avoid damaging it or yourself. We hope this article has helped teach you how to put a woman’s e-bike on a bike rack. Enjoy your ride!
